Emergency at Baptist Hospital Works?
The horrible experience to be attended by Emergency at Baptist Hospital.
First I want to emphasise that why exist an Emergency Area in every hospital?
Because we urge to see a Dcotor, we can not wait for an appointment to visit him next week or next month!!!
we did not feel well, have pain, and we need to relief that pain anyway as soon as possible, nobody likes to suffer, Do you?
Except if you are a masochist, this is the right place to get such kind of pleasure from being humiliated or mistreated.
Unfortunately the people who works there it does not have that kind of sensibility and common sense to the patients who are there, waiting to be attended.
We start this miserable experience at 3:00 pm last wednesday when my wife had a pain in her chest, headache, vomits and chilling all that morning then I decided to take her to emergency because I was afraid that she have some hearth problems for the symptoms that she had manifested all that day.
After we arrived a PA took her information and wrote all the symptoms that she had at that moment, took her temperature and blood pressure then she said please be seat until we call you.
The place is crowded, we manage ourselves to get an empty seats far away from the loudly TV speakers installed everywhere. by chance one of them it was broken, Thanks to God!
The place is like a cooler, They mantain the hospital cool to kill bacterias and people too! at least you got a Cold after you leave from there, Guaranteed!!!
I had to get 2 blankets for my wife she conplains that she feels cold! Do you imagine? She went there because she was chilling....Remember!
People drinking coffee, sodas and snacks everywhere specially the patients companions while others talking by phone with relatives and describing what happenned to them while they are waiting to be attended, others outside the building are smoking or warming themself under the sunny and humid weather of Miami on summer.
Believe me sometimes was better to be outside from the hospital that in, at least you do not feel cold.
4:30 pm someone call her to what? to gave a wrist paper band with her name printed on it, nothing else. Marked with a bar code?
I think this people are more concerned in fullfill the database of the hospital with your information, social security, etc. more than in the health of the patients
6:00 pm another PA call her to take her blood for test. Aleluya! someone is taken care of her, only a blood test, no pills for pain the suffering still.
6:30 pm a PA called her to took her insurance information and sign al the forms required to be admitted in the hospital a pile of papers. My Wife asked her can you give me a pill for relief the headache that I have since this morning? she answered only my job is fill the documentation, you have to wait! She looks anger when she talk!
8:30 pm a PA call her to said we need to make a Cat Scan, cat scan...why we asked him? he answered us because you have pain in your head. he dissapeared and came back after a while to took her in. 9:30 pm a NR came and for the first time gave her an injection for the pain. then came the Doctor and checked and send her to Critical Patients Unit.
10:30 pm a NR injected her Dextrose and dissapear until I called her because I did not see the liquid is coming down to the veins. She fixed it and came back around
12:00 am and said you have to go to the restroom, we need a urine sample. we have been waiting 9 hours and now they want an urine sample? Amazing how this people work, they don't have any organization everyone manage himself in his own way, a self control that it doesn't work at least for the function that this people suppose to do in this kind of job.
3:00 am the NR came and said prepare yourself, you are going to release.
4:00 am The Doctor came and said you will be fine, you have and Enteritis ( Intestinal Infection from a virus ) only you have to drink liquids for two days then go to your primary Doctor. During this journey we saw more than 50 people between PA, NR and 2 Doctors walking, talking about their personal life, joking, watching the news about Cuba and Fidel Castro! comments about it. and a lot of people in the waiting room more than the people who are attended inside. Do you think that people like this are not able to cut a wrong leg from a poor guy like happened at Mercy Hospital? For sure They Are!
Now the question is you have to wait 13 hours to tell you that you have an Enteritis, what this people are doing to see the patients who are waiting outside. NOTHING!!!
They do not care, one of the Nurses told us, you are the only people who are able to change this, you will receive a survey by mail and you can complain about it. We encourage to people to do that because the Doctor manager change all the way how we worked in the past and now we are worst than The Jackson Memorial Hospital, only we have 2 doctors for Emergency and you the patients suffer fot it!
Next time we have to think twice before decide where is better to go to your Primary Care Center or Emergency?
The Choice is yours.
